Denver Recruiting FirmAs I sit here writing this blog, I find it ironic that I am contributing to a digital discussion that promotes face-to-face communication. My interest in connecting in person is perhaps the very reason I am a recruiter, a job where real conversation is an integral part of how I make a living.

It is not just about the conversation, which tells me a fair amount; but also about having the opportunity to meet face-to-face for an interview with a potential candidate. This interaction provides insight into their world and their needs, and the chance to read their body language. Listening to, and observing a candidate contributes important clues and insight into how a person might react or behave while on the job. These clues are not something you can find on social media sites or profiles.

Do you crave real human contact in a world dominated by digital interface? If you are someone who values empathy like I do, then it seems it may be your time to shine. According to the article, “The Number One Job Skill in 2020,” empathy, despite our digital world, will be a highly sought after quality in some of the fastest growing jobs. So put a genuine smile on your face and brush up on those face-to-face conversation skills because they will take you beyond your interview and into the next part of your career.
